Summary of Tsunami Relief Projects financed by slacamw
To
date the Association has provided financial assistance amounting to a total of
US$31,500 (net of transfer fees) for 9 Tsunami relief projects in Sri Lanka. A large part of this work (6 projects) was
accomplished during the period January to August 2005. The Association focused
attention on providing financial support towards Tsunami relief and
reconstruction activities. Support was essentially provided to small-scale
projects and initiatives proposed and implemented by Catholic and
non-government organizations to help Tsunami victims to get back to normal with
their lives.
Specific
projects were identified and introduced by members of SLACAMW. Thereafter, the sponsors were required to
present proposals in terms of project format designed for the purpose. This simple format was designed to help
sponsors in conceptualizing the project objectives, scope and justification,
expected benefits, the cost structure, the proposed financing, and operations
and maintenance arrangements. These
proposals were reviewed, revised where necessary, and concurrence with the
project sponsors was obtained. Thereafter, the Board took up the proposals for
consideration. The Board, based on the justification for each project, approved
the following projects.
